Masengill, Retired Railway Executive, Dies Thurman Thaddeus Masengill, 68, assistant general freight agent of the Seaboard Air Line Railway until his retirement last May, died yesterday at 6:45 p.m. at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. H.M. Siple, in Arlington, after an illness of two weeks. He had been in failing health for eight months. A native of Bluff City, Tenn. he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Fannie Ellen Worley Masengill. He had resided in Norfolk for 48 years, last at 812 Shirley Avenue, until he moved to Arlington six months ago. He was employed by the Seaboard for 40 years, and was a member of the Colonial Avenue Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Etta Elizabeth Brinkley Masengill; one daughter, Mrs. Frances Masengill Siple, of Arlington; two sons, Thurman T. Masengill, Jr. and Robert B. Masengill, both in the Army; three brothers, Robert T. Harold E. and F. U. Masengill, all of Norfolk; two sisters, Mrs. W.D. Rhudy and Mrs. Lillian Shulz, both of Elizabethton, Tenn. and a granddaughter. The remains will be brought to the Cox Funeral Home, Norfolk, pending the completion of funeral arrangements.
