Alflorence Mason 
Portsmouth - Alflorence Mason, 78, of 508 Rapidan St., died Sunday March 17 
in a hospital.  A native of Petersburg, Miss Mason had retired from a job at 
Virginia Mutual Insurance Co. after 30 years.  She was a member of Queen 
Street Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 73, Order of 
Calanthe, Elks Temple 1A, the Evening Star Lodge, and the Good Samaritan 
Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Sarah S. Creech of Portsmouth and Jessie 
Mae Gibson of Norfolk, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a 
great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Queen Street Baptist 
Church by Rev. J. Jasper Freeman.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will begin Wednesday at Twilight Funeral Home, Portsmouth Chapel 
and Thursday in the Norfolk Chapel where a wake service will be held from 7 
to 8 p.m. Thursday.  The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. 
Friday.  The family will assemble at 1 p.m. Friday at the residence.
