Virginian-Pilot July 17 & 18, 1940
Mrs. Sarah Rose Mason, aged 65, died after a short illness at her residence, 
1615 East Ocean View avenue, last night 7:45 o’clock. She was the wife of James 
S. Mason and daughter of the late James and Sarah Maher. She was born in New 
Haven, Conn., and had lived in Norfolk 60 years and was a member of Holy Trinity 
Church, Ocean View. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Thomas 
Mason, of Waterbury, Conn., and George S. and Philip Mason, of Norfolk.
The body was removed to the Gregory Funeral Home, 3401 Granby street, pending 
funeral arrangements.

Mrs. Sarah Rose Mason – Funeral services for Mrs. Mason, who died at her 
residence, 615 East Ocean View avenue, Tuesday night, will be conducted this 
morning at 10 o’clock at Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Ocean View. The cortege 
will leave the Gregory Funeral Home, 3401 Granby street, at 9:30 o’clock for the 
church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
