Massey, 59 years old and a resident of Berkley for the past 31 years, died suddenly yesterday at noon while working in his garden adjoining his home at 307 Mulberry Street. Mr. Massey had been working for the Virginia Electric and Power Company for years and retired a few months ago. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Massey and the husband of Mrs. Marcie McGlaughon Massey. He was a native of Pocomoke City, Md. Besides his wife, he is survived by two stepsons, James Odom, of Norfolk and Nelson Odom, of Fort Monroe; one step daughter, Mrs. Leo Newberry, of South Norfolk; three brothers,, Ollie, George and Gordon Massey, ,of Somerset County, Md.; four sisters, Mrs. Albert Webb, of Baltimore; Mrs. Henry Matthews, of Somerset County, Md. and Mrs. Louis Elberton and Mrs. Boris Fox, of Pleasantville, N.J. Mr. Massey was an active member of the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church, a member of Berkley Lodge No. 167, A.F.& A.M. and of the Chesapeake Tribe, Red Men. The body was removed to the Graham Funeral Home, 124 East Berkley Avenue. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock in Berkley Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. ************************************************************************ MASSEY, SAMUEL JAMES TILTON - Of 407 Mulberry street, Berkley, March 10, 1936, at 12 o'clock noon, SAMUEL JAMES TILTON MASSEY, after a brief illness, in the 59th year of his age. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Massey and husband of Mrs. Marcia McGlaughon Massey. The body was removed to the Graham Funeral Home, 124 East Berkley avenue. Funeral services will be conducted THURSDAY AFTERNOON at 3 o'clock in the Berkley Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
