Virginian-Pilot  April 11, 1944
John Stewart Mathias, Jr., five months’ old son of John Stewart and Mrs. Veronica 
Freeman Mathias, died yesterday morning at 6:30 o’clock at the residence, 7630 
Victory drive. Besides his parents he is survived by his maternal grandparents, 
Mr. and Mrs. George R. Freeman, of Norfolk, and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and 
Mrs. Stewart Mathias, of Accomac.
The body will be taken from the residence of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. 
Freeman, 608 West Princess Anne road, to Sacred Heart Catholic Church for funeral 
services this morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
