Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark March 21, 1925

Mrs. Jane Elizabeth Matthews, aged 88, died yesterday afternoon at 4:45 o'clock at 
the Church Home, 356 West Princess Anne Road. A native of Portsmouth, Mrs. 
Matthews had spent her lifetime in this section. She is survived by a son, Eugene 
H. Matthews and three nephews, Frank DeCordy Matthews, W.S. Matthews and William 
Henry Harrison.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at H.D. Oliver's Funeral 
Apartments, 610-12 East Freemason Street. The Rev. David W. Howard, D.D., chaplain 
of the Church Home, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
