Captain Maurice was in the forty-fourth year of his age, and died of consumption, leaving a widow and one child. He was the son of Major Theodore Maurice, U.S. Engineer, and was himself in that department, at Fort Monroe; when the war broke out. He joined his fortunes to those of his native State, and was commissioned Captain and Paymaster to the Engineers of the Confederate Army. He was an honorable man, a zealous and faithful officer, a good Christian, and what has been our loss has been his gain. His funeral takes place this morning from St. Mary’s Church, at 10 o’clock, to which his friends are respectfully invited to attend.
