Dr. W. L. Hildebrand, pastor of the church, officiated and delivered the principal eulogy. The choir led in singing familiar hymns. Dr. Hildebrand read the scripture and the Rev. David Stovall offered prayer. Eulogistic remarks were made by the Rev. R. S. Steele. Solos were sung by Elmore Jackson and Rev. Mrs. Amy H. Manley. Honorary pallbearers were John Council, James Turner, Theodore Myrick, William King, Mark Bowen and George Small. Active pallbearers were James Bryant, Louis Hodges, Leonard King, John Bell, Clarence Swan and Linwood Williams. Corprew’s Funeral Home was in charge, and interment took place in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Mr. Maxwell held membership in Class No. 17 of Emanuel Church. His survivors are his wife, Mrs. Jessie Maxwell; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Blacken and Mrs. Christien Davis; six grandchildren, a brother, Junius Maxwell, and other relatives.
