The Norfolk Virginian Pilot August 25, 1941
William Lawrence Mayer, husband of Mrs. Sadie Meekin Mayer, and son of the late 
Eugene Lawrence and Mrs. Mary Frances Butt Mayer, died at Ivy Saturday evening 
at 6:45 o'clock.  Mr. Mayer, a native and former resident of Norfolk, had 
resided at Ivy for the past several years.  Besides his wife, he is survived by 
two sons, William Mayer, of West Virginia, and Allan Mayer, of Ivy, Va.; one 
daughter, Mrs. Frances Loth, of Waynesboro; three grandchildren; four sisters, 
Mrs. R.S. Cohoon, of Norfolk, Miss Mary Mayer, of Ivy, Miss Frances Mayer, of 
Norfolk, and Mrs. H.V. Lucas, of Rockbridge Bath; a brother, Augustine Mayer, 
of New York, and an aunt, Mrs. M.S. Spratley, of Norfolk.  Services will be 
held at the grave in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk, this afternoon at 3 o'clock.
