Virginian-Pilot, The (Norfolk, VA) - Wednesday, October 22, 2003 
On Oct. 16, 2003, the gates of heaven opened to receive our beloved mother, aunt
and friend, Catherine Delois ``Nusey'' Mayfield, 62, of the 700 block of Wiley
Drive. She departed this life surrounded with the love from a very special
niece, when she placed on her wings and flew away home.

She was born March 4, 1941 to the late parents Howard and Gladys Mayfield. She
was also predeceased by her beloved sisters, Mary Mayfield, Doris Mayfield,
Lollie Debraux; her beloved brothers, Howard Mayfield and Clyde Mayfield; and
two beloved sons, Donald Mayfield and Bobby Mayfield.

Those left to cherish her memory are three sons, Tony Mayfield and wife Kim of
New York, Paul Mayfield and Gary Mayfield of Norfolk; a special niece, Rosa
``Lynne'' Mayfield; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews,
other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be conducted today at 1 p.m. at Westminster Baptist
Church in Norfolk under the direction of Pastor Larry Wade Sr. M.div. Burial
services will be at Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk.

``I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the
faith.'' 2 Timothy 4:7
