The Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 6, 1943
James Carron Mayo, 76, of 38 Cedar avenue, Newport News, died Thursday night at 
11:45 o'clock at the home of his sister, Mrs. Emma Brown, after a long illness.
He was a native of Isle of Wight County, and had resided in Newport News for 
the past five months. He was the son of the late Joseph and Dela Carron Mayo, 
and husband of the late Ellie Lutton Mayo.
Besides Mrs. Brown, he is survived by two other sisters, Mrs. Maude Pebworth, 
of Newport News, and Mrs. Mary Goodman, of Norfolk, and several nieces and 
nephews.
The body was removed to the Sikes Funeral Home, 124 East Berkley avenue, 
pending funeral arrangements.
