He was taken suddenly ill Sunday afternoon with something like colic, and grew worse until yesterday morning, when he was examined by four physicians, who decided that an operation was inevitable. He was taken to the hospital and the operation performed, he living but a short while afterwards. Joe was the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Mayo, and his sudden death is a source of sorrow to his people. His remains were prepared for burial and brought to the home of the deceased's parents on Pearl street. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. ************************************************************** The funeral of the late son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mayo will be conducted from the residence, on Pearl street, this morning at 10 o'clock by Rev. R.M. Chandler. The remains will be laid to rest in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery.
