Mrs. Mays, a Roanoke native, was employed by De Paul Hospital and was a graduate of the Norfolk General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where she was president of the athletic association. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies’ Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Walter E. Mays; three daughters, Melanie A. Mays, Wendy L. Mays and Carla A. Mays, all of Norfolk; her mother, Mary B. Hepler, and a sister, Gail L. Cundiff, both of Goodview, Va.; a brother, Dave B. Anderson of Houston, Texas; and her stepmother, Nell Anderson of Roanoke. A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, by the Rev. Joseph Slattery. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the athletic association. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today.
