The son of the late George C. McCarrick Sr. and Charlotte Garrett McCarrick, he was born in Norfolk and retired in 1989 from Norfolk Naval Supply Center and NARDAC as a senior computer analyst after 30 years of service. He was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Survivors include his beloved wife of 46 years, Barbara Hudgins McCarrick; two sons, George "Mac" C. McCarrick III and his wife, Linda, of Virginia Beach and Craig C. McCarrick and Janis Rackliffe of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Michelle R. McCarrick and Kaynon B. McCarrick, both of Virginia Beach; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Beatrice Clark and Dorothy Bonniwell; and a son, Kenny McCarrick. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Rosewood Memorial Park with Father Philip Ghys O.S.B. officiating. A Christian Wake service will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, at 7:15 p.m. today where the family will remain until 8:30 p.m. to receive friends.
