Virginian-Pilot  April 7, 1908
Rodger P. McCauley, who for many years was a member of the Norfolk fire 
department, departed this life at his home, 33 Cumberland street, at 12:50 p.m. 
Sunday, after a lingering illness in the 53d year of his age. The deceased was 
known to his friends by the familiar title of Rhody McCauley, who held him in high 
esteem. He was born in Richmond, but had resided in Norfolk for over forty years. 
He is survived by a widow, several children, two brothers and two sisters. The 
funeral will be solemnized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 3 o’clock this 
afternoon and will be attended by the Woodmen of the World, of which the deceased 
was a member, and a delegation from the fire department.
