Mr. McClain had retired from a job at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth. Survivors include four daughters, Azrine Henderson of Powells Point, N.C., Ernestine Faison and Ellen Whitehurst, both of New York, and Audrey Pryor of Richmond; a son, Earl McClain of Norfolk; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Hale Funeral Chapel by the Rev. J.K. Kearney Sr. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The family will be at the residence.
