Her brother had gone out with her, taking the shotgun with a view of shooting a h hawk which had been after the chickens and in some unaccountable manner the h hammer of the gun was struck against something and discharged, the load of shot t taking effect in the girl's body, causing death almost instantly. The young lady was a daughter of the late O[scar] Y. McClannan, who formerly re resided in this city. Since the father's death the children have made their ho home with their grandfather, Jerome Powers. The remains arrived here yesterday afternoon via the Norfolk Southern railroad f for interment in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk proper, which took place yesterday a afternoon, Funeral Director J. R. Williams officiating. The funeral services were conducted at the home of her grandfather before the remains were shipped here.
