McCoy - Although not unexpected, this community was this morning pained to learn of the death of this prominent citizen, the sad event occurring at 11 o'clock at the Retreat for the Sick in Norfolk last night. The deceased was 52 years of age, a native of Florida, but has resided here for many years, during all of which time he had filled faithfully and with much satisfaction to the government the position of chief clerk in the Ordnance Department of the Norfolk Navy Yard. A thoroughly cultured gentleman, well versed upon all subjects (he had been educated for the ministry) kind, sociable and ever solicitous concerning the comfort and welfare of those around him, he was indeed a good companion and had drawn around him hosts of friends, both in civil life and Government attaches, at home and abroad. He leaves a wife and five sons, the oldest of whom is Hon. R.A. McCoy, Mayor of Berkley. He was a consistent member of St. Thomas P.E. Church, from which his funeral will take place this afternoon at 5 o'clock. ***************************************************************** Funeral of Mr. James A.
