The wound was apparently self inflicted, police said. McCullough, an engineer with Norfolk & Western Railway, was taken to Norfolk General Hospital at 7:50 a.m. by Patrolmen B.B. Batten and R.L. Canupp. He was pronounced dead at 10:06 a.m. The body was taken to H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments. ************************************************************************* J. H. McCULLOUGH RITES THURSDAY A funeral service for James H. McCullough of 1538 Halstead Ave., Norfolk & Western engineer, who died Sunday in a Norfolk hospital, will be held in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. A son of James Francis and Georgia Dia Richardson McCullough, he was a lifelong resident of Norfolk. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Cora Overman McCullough; three daughters, Mrs. Acie W. Davis of Osage, Kan., Mrs. Thomas M. Stoudemier of Portsmouth and Mrs. William Wall Jr. of Norfolk; a brother, Francis M. McCullough of St. Louis, Mo., and nine grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, friends are requested by the family to contribute to the Heart Fund.
