The Norfolk Virginian, April 12, 1896

The funeral of the late A.A. McCullough took place from his late residence No. 
38 Freemason Street, yesterday afternoon, and was very largely attended. Rev. 
A.S. Lloyd, of St. Luke’s P.E. Church, conducted the services, assisted by Rev. 
Robert Gatewood. The floral tributes were very handsome. The coffin was borne 
by eight colored men, with the following gentlemen acting as honorary pall-
bearers: Colonel Walter H. Taylor, E.B. Freeman, W.H. Doyle, John Keeling, A.W. 
Starke, R.C. Taylor, W.W. Tunis, Rufus Parks, Captain W.W. Old, Peter Smith, 
George Chamberlaine, and J.W. Perry. The remains were interred in Elmwood.
