Mrs. Catharine McDermin, wife of James McDermin, died at 6:30 o’clock last night 
at the family residence, 318 Fairfax avenue, after an illness of seven weeks. She 
was 65 years old. Mrs. McDermin was a native of Ireland, but had resided in 
Norfolk during the past 63 years, having come to this city when a child, and was 
well known and esteemed. She was a consistent member of St. Mary’s Catholic 
church. Mrs. McDermin is survived by her husband, three daughter, Mrs. M. J. 
Murphy, Mrs. J. A. Kennedy and Miss Mary A. McDermin, and two sons, W. J. McDermin 
of the Norfolk Fire Department, and T. P. McDermin.
