He was 77 years old, and was a native of Edinburgh, Scotland. He had lived 50 years in Norfolk. He was a member of Pocahontas Council Royal Arcanum, and a charter member both of the Norfolk Catholic Knights of America and the Norfolk Elks. Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. M. J. Murphy, Mrs. J. A. Kennedy and Miss Mary A. McDermin, all of Norfolk; two sons, William J. McDermin, of Norfolk, and Thomas P. McDermin, of Philadelphia; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. J. E. Flynn, of Norfolk; and a brother, Bernard McDermin, of Scotland. The funeral will take place tomorrow at noon at the residence. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery.
