Ellen Catherine McDuffie, 101, of the 500 block of Spotswood Ave., a retired 
school teacher, died Feb. 17, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.

Mrs. McDuffie was a native of Minersville, Pa., and was retired from the 
Minersville School System. She was also employed by the Surgeon General's office 
during World War I and World War II. She was the widow of George E. McDuffie and a 
member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Norfolk. Mrs. McDuffie was a graduate of 
West Chester State Teachers College.

Survivors include a daughter, Eleanor Ann McDuffie Powell of Norfolk; a son, 
George E. McDuffie Jr. of Silver Spring, Md.; 17 grandchildren and 15 great-
grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Sacred Heart 
Catholic Church by the Rev. John A. Dorgan. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic 
Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., 
Norfolk Chapel, at 7 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the CANDII 
House.
