OSWEGO, N.Y. - Lawrence J. McElligott, 77, of 164 E. 6th St., retiree supervisor 
of Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Co. with 43 years of service and a former 
Norfolk resident, died Sunday.
He formerly lived at 916 Armfield Circle in Norfolk and was born in Oswego, N.Y. 
He was the husband of the late Mrs. Helen G. McElligott. He retired from the 
company in 1967.
He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church of Norfolk, a past 
president of Old Dominion Chapter of Telephone Pioneers of America and past 
president of the Rotary Club of Winchester, Va.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jill Dolph of Oswego; a son, John McElligott 
of Fairfax, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Walter Morton and Mrs. Margaret O’Brien of 
Rochester, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.
The body was taken to Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, 
Norfolk, where a Christian Wake service will be held tonight at 7. Afterwards, 
the family will be at 9434 Selby Place, Norfolk.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Blessed 
Sacrament Chapel, 37th Street and Colley Avenue. Burial will be in St. Mary’s 
Cemetery.
