Funeral rites for Mrs. Viola McGowan of 755 Cumberland Street, who passed away at
her residence on Saturday, December 28, were conducted Thursday, January 2, at
Metropolitan AME Zion Church with the pastor, the Rev. E.B. Watson, D.D.,
officiating. The deceased was a native of Goldsboro, N.C., but had lived here for
the past four years. She is survived by her husband, Willie McGowan, and a sister.
interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Hale and Company in charge.
