The Virginian Pilot Sunday July 22, 1956
Mrs. Mattie Walker McHorney, 73, widow of Benjamin Franklin McHorney and 
daughter of the late Lycinus and Mrs. Etta Walker, died at the residence, 
3019 Grandy Ave. yesterday at 4:15 a.m. after a long illness.
She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. A.C. Minter and Mrs. I.W. Walker and 
three brothers, S.L. Walker and W.C. Walker, both of Norfolk, and J.T. 
Walker, of Wilmington, Del.
Mrs. McHorney was a native of Currituck County, N.C., and had been a 
resident of Norfolk for 50 years. 
Funeral services will be conducted at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home today 
at 4 p.m. by the Rev. Graham S. Carlton, pastor of the Fairmount Park 
Methodist Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
