She was a native of Sanford, NC, but had lived in Norfolk for 40 years. She was one of the oldest daughters of the late Crawford and Mrs. Henrietta Bynum. Mrs. McIver was a member of Metropolitan AMEZ Church, the Order of Tents and the Johnson Avenue Neighborhood Club. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, August 20, at 1:30 p.m. at Metropolitan Church. The pastor, the Rev. Dr. R. A. Councill, officiated. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery with King Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements. Mrs. McIver is survived by her husband, Charles A. McIver; six sisters, Mrs. N. B. Styles, Mrs. Minnie Bagby Taylor, twin-sister, Richmond; Mrs. Eugenia Bethea, New Rochelle, NY; Mrs. Clara M. McIver, Sanford, NC; Mrs Lyda Wills, and Earlon Smith, both of Detroit MI; four brothers, Lacey Bynum , Durham NC; James David Bynum, Charleoro, PA; and Leroy Bynum, Detroit MI; a foster son (nephew) Junious McIver Bagby and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
