Mr. McKimmey was among the best known citizens on this side of the river. For more than ten years he has been street inspector of Berkley, and prior to that time was a building contractor. While a native of Eastern North Carolina, he had made his home in Berkley 27 years. He was a son of the late John and Elizabeth McKimmey of Norfolk Carolina. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Cornelia McKimmey, a son, H.W. McKimmey, a daughter, Mrs. Hattie Cohen, in Chestnut Street, two brothers, John and Noah McKimmey of Norfolk, and three sisters, Mrs. M. Davis and Susan Seymour of Elizabeth City and Mrs. Luther Pritchard of Norfolk. The funeral services will be conducted at the residence this afternoon at 5 o'clock and interment will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery. The deceased was a member of Thomas Jefferson Council No. 16, Order Fraternal Americans and Magnolia Camp No. 46, W.O.W., which are called out to attend the funeral services. ************* McKIMMEY - At his home in Liberty Street, Tuesday, August 8, 1916 at 1 o'clock p.m., JAMES ANDERSON McKIMMEY, son of John and Mrs. Elizabeth Sivills McKimmey of Eastern North Carolina, aged 64 years. The funeral will be conducted at the above residence THIS (Wednesday) AFTERNOON, August 9, at 5 o'clock and burial will be in the family lot in Magnolia Cemetery. **************************************************************** The funeral of James Anderson McKimmey was conducted at the family residence on Liberty Street yesterday afternoon by the Rev. W.M. Black, pastor of the South Norfolk Baptist Church. The interment took place in Magnolia Cemetery. Mr. McKimmey was a member of Magnolia Camp, W.O.W., of Portsmouth and Thomas Jefferson Council, No. 16, Order of Fraternal Americans of Berkley, which turned out in a body. The pallbearers were S.W. Pierce, T.R. Lehman, G.W. Wrenn, J.L. Riggs, C.L. Bassler and Mack McKibben.
