NORFOLK - George Wilson McKinney, 88, passed away Saturday, Oct. 8, in Ayden, N.C. 
He retired after 36 years with the Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility as an 
aircraft mechanic. Born in South Boston, Va., he was the son of the late Sallie 
Burton McKinney and John S. McKinney, and was the widower of Louise Minutolo 
McKinney. Mr. McKinney was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was a life 
member of the Norfolk Moose Lodge No. 39. He enjoyed working in his vegetable 
garden and being with other people. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, 
Louise M. Barbarisi of Ayden, N.C.; and four grandchildren, George A. Barbarisi 
and Sara Barbarisi Gaul and husband John, all of Norfolk, and Mary L. Barbarisi 
and David W. Barbarisi, both of Washington, D.C.; his devoted friend, Jimmy Bright 
of Ayden; and his faithful dog, Ralph. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, 
William J. Barbarisi, five brothers and four sisters. A funeral Mass will be 
conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial 
will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a 
visitation at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, Tuesday from 6 until 7 
p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The St. Mary's Home 
for Disabled Children at www.saintmaryshome.org or to your local SPCA. Online 
condolences may be offered to the family through www.hdoliver.com.
