Virginian-Pilot  December 24 & 25, 1960
Samuel Davidson McKown, 60, husband of Mrs. Aileen McCauley McKown, and son of 
Benhamin Franklin and Mrs. Adlean Fitzgerald McKown, died Friday at 4:48 p.m. in 
a Norfolk hospital.
He was a retired clerk of Colonial Stores Incorporated and was a member of St. 
Matthew’s Catholic Church.
Besides his widow, surviving are two daughters, Mrs. C. L. Russell of Norfolk 
and Mrs. Davis P. Jones of Roselle, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. G. A. Bailey of 
Norfolk; four brothers, C. F. McKown, L. M. McKown and E. M. McKown of Norfolk 
and Phillip McKown of Richmond, and eight grandchildren.
The body was taken to H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments.

McKOWN, SAMUEL DAVIDSON - At a local hospital, Friday, December 23rd, 1960, at 
4:40 p.m., SAMUEL DAVIDSON McKOWN, husband of Mrs. Aileen McCauley McKown, and 
son of the late Beniamin Franklin, and Mrs. Adlean Fitzgerald McKown, in the 
61st year of his age. Remains will be taken from the H. D. Oliver Funeral 
Apartments, 1501 Colonial Avenue, to St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, for services 
Monday at 10 a.m. Friends of the family are invited to attend. Interment, St. 
Mary’s Cemetery.
