PORTSMOUTH - Joseph McLaughlin, 61, of 320 First St., died Friday night in a 
Norfolk hospital.
A native of Phoenixville, Pa., he had lived in this section the last 13 years. 
He was employed at the Little Creek Amphibious Base until ill health forced his 
retirement five years ago.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
His late parents were Patrick McLaughlin and Mrs. Katherine M. McLaughlin.
Surviving are one son, Joseph McLaughlin Jr., of Portsmouth; four sisters and 
one brother. The body was taken to the Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South 
Norfolk.
Funeral services will be conducted today at 2 p.m. in the Francis A. Gay Funeral 
Home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Norfolk.
