McLaughlin, who died at a local hospital Friday evening, will take place at the Sacred Heart Catholic church this morning at 10 o’clock. Members of the Norfolk fire department will act as pallbearers and a number of fire chiefs from other cities will be in Norfolk to attend the funeral. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic cemetery. Members of the fire department and police department, who are off duty, will form at the fire headquarters on Plume street at 9:30 o’clock and, under command of Major Charles B. Borland, inspector of police, will march to the church where they will form a guard of honor to the former fire chief. The same ceremony will be performed at the cemetery. Among the visiting chiefs will be Edgar V. Farley, of Petersburg; George M. Dillinger, of Camp Lee; W. H. Joynes, of Richmond; Jack Cudihy, of Hopewell and Fillmore Tyson, of City Point. Active pallbearers announced last night will be Assistant Chief George W. Bunting, Assistant Chief F. C. Petty, Captain Edward J. Cannon, Captain W. T. Traylor, Engineer C. T. Schmus, Engineer E. D. Dozier, Driver R. L. Woolard and Assistant Mechanic James Hatton.
