Police said McMahon was crossing Shore Drive just east of the Leaner Bridge about 12:20 a.m. when he was struck by an east bound car driven by Woodrow Cecil Dateman Jr., 19, of the 500 block of Talden Avenue. Dateman was charged with manslaughter. A native of Pawtucket, R.I., McMahon was an electrician at the Overhaul and Repair Department at the Norfolk Naval Air Station. The son of the late Owen and Mrs. Elizabeth Keenan McMahon, he was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Norfolk Elks Lodge 38. He is survived by a daughter, Miss Bonnie Gaye McMahon of Richmond, and a sister, Miss Margaret McMahon, and a brother, Jim McMahon, both of Pawtucket, R.I. The body was taken to Cox Funeral Home. McMAHON, WILLIAM FRANCIS – At a Virginia Beach hospital Saturday, Feb. 12, 1966, at 12:20 a.m., WILLIAM FRANCIS McMAHON, son of the late Owen and Mrs. Elizabeth Keenan McMahon, in the 63rd year of his age. The body will be taken from the Cox Funeral Home to Sacred Heart Catholic Church where funeral services will be conducted THIS (Monday) MORNING, Feb. 14, 1966, at 10:00 o’clock. Friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
