Mrs. CathArine McNally, widow of John McNally, died at her residence, No. 124 
Chapel street, at 2 o’clock yesterday morning after an illness of several weeks, 
in the 97th year of her age. She was the oldest resident of Norfolk. She was born 
in Ireland, but had been a resident of this city for three-quarters of a century. 
She was well known and universally esteemed for her splendid traits of character. 
She is survived by a son, Bernard McNally, and four daughters, Misses Sarah, Mary, 
Kate and Josephine McNally, all of Norfolk. Mrs. McNally was for very many years a 
consistent member of St. Mary’s Catholic church, from which her funeral will be 
held at 10 o’clock Saturday morning.
