His brother, Otis, 9, was scheduled to be buried that day at Calvary Cemetery after rites at the Hale Funeral Home. Otis died on Tuesday as a result of injuries suffered in a friendly tussle with Melvin, and the latter rebuked himself a thousand times for the tragic accident. While the boys were playing at home Sunday night, Otis was struck in the abdomen by Melvin’s knee. Later he became ill. He was taken to a hospital, treated for nausea and released. The boy complained of pain and nausea on Monday afternoon, and again early Tuesday morning, just before his death. Dr. Michael Moore, a medical examiner, said that death was due to a rupture of the intestines. In addition to Melvin, the survivors are his parents, James McNeal and Mrs. Gloria W. McNeal; a sister, Moline McNeal; and three other brothers, Bobbie, Frank and Charlie McNeal.
