Mr. McQueen was active for more than ten years as a member of the faculty of Crestwood High School where he served as chairman of the English department and as coach of the Dramatic Society. He spoke and taught Spanish and French and was also a fluent speaker of Latin and German. He graduated from Virginia Union University with high honors and later completed work at Columbia Teachers College for the master of arts degree. Mr. McQueen was a certified professional photographer, but practiced it more as a hobby rather than a profession. An ardent lover of flowers, he gave many lectures to local horticultural societies. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Thelma Yarborough; a brother, Sylvester McQueen of New York; aunt, Mrs. Lizzie Skinner, and other relatives. He was also a cousin to Butterfly McQueen of "Gone With the Wind" fame, who now resides in New York. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the chapel of Riddick Funeral Home. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.
