The Virginian Pilot Friday March 2, 1984
Otho F. Mears Jr., 82, of 1109 Graydon Ave., a native of Eastville and the 
widower of Elizabeth Warren Mears, died Wednesday in a hospital.
Mears had retired in 1971 as chief of the Virginia Project Office in the real 
estate division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.  He had attended Randolph-
Macon College and the University of Virginia.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth M. Kurtz of New York City; a son, Otho 
F. Mears III of New Orleans; two sisters, Jewel M. Upshur of Eastern Shore and 
Emma Gunn of California; and two grandchildren.
The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery 
by the Rev. Walton Davis.  H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk, is in 
charge.
Memorial donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society or to Lee's 
Friends.
