MEARS, OF PRINCESS ANNE, DIES Oswald Bailey Mears, one of the oldest and most prominent residents of Princess Anne County, died at his residence at Kempsville at 5:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon. Mr. Mears was 78 years old and had made his home in Princess Anne for forty years. He was born in Accomack County. For thirty-eight years Mr. Mears was supervising instructor of public instruction of Princess Anne and took an active part in the civic affairs of the county. He was a member of Kempsville Baptist Church and for years had served as church clerk. He also was a member of Princess Anne Camp of Confederate Veterans. He is survived by three sons, Charles D. Mears, of Princess Anne; Paul C. Mears of Ocean View and Leroy A. Mears, of Asheville, N.C.; three daughters, Miss Lula G. Mears and Miss Grace E. Mears, of Princess Anne and Mrs. R.V. Akers, of Roanoke, Va.; two brothers, T.B. Mears and Lorenzo D. Mears. of Accomack. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at the Kempsville Baptist Church, Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be conducted by Rev M. Jamerson, pastor, assisted by Rev. R.J. Alfriend, rector of the Episcopal Church at Kempsville. Interment will be made in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk.
