Meath, a Norfolk hatter for 35 years, died yesterday at 7:30 a.m. at a local hospital. A native of Danbury, Conn., he moved to Norfolk about 35 years ago and opened a hatter’s shop in the Monticello Arcade. He retired about five years ago to become general manager of the Franco-American Cleaners and to take charge of the hat department. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and active in the Holy Name Society. Also, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Dauntless Club. A son of the late Thomas and Mary Mallon Meath, he resided at 107 Afton Avenue. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Margaret Doran Meath; two daughters, Miss Mildred A. Meath, of Norfolk, and Mrs. Charles E. Crombe, Jr., of Palo Alto, Calif.; two sons, Harold F. Meath and Vincent L. Meath, both of Norfolk, and two grandchildren, Patricia Anne Crombe, of Palo Alto, Calif., and James V. Meath, of Norfolk. Rosary services were held last night at the Oliver Funeral Apartments. Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
