Altmeyer Funeral Home December 2020
Evelyn Teresa Mechler passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020, in Virginia 
Beach, Virginia.  Evelyn was born and raised in Bronx, New York, recently 
relocating to Virginia Beach, Virginia, a few years ago.
Evelyn was a lifelong parishioner at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church in Bronx, New 
York, before relocating to Virginia Beach, and becoming a member of St. Gregory 
the Great Catholic Church in Virginia Beach.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Estelle Mechler, her brother, 
James and sisters, Dorothea and Margaret. Evelyn is survived by six nieces and 
nephews, eleven great-nieces and -nephews and five great-great-nieces and -
nephews, who will always remember her for her caring, humor and independence.
A Catholic Mass will be held on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. and 
will be livestreamed HERE.  A graveside service will immediately follow at St. 
Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Norfolk, Virginia, and will be livestreamed HERE.
