Mr. Meehan was born in Byrn Mawr, Pa., and spent his childhood in Atlantic City, N.J., where he graduated from Holy Spirit High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick Meehan and Teresa Cowan Meehan. He received an honorable discharge from the Navy following his service during World War II. He spent the next 32 years as a civil service employee at the Naval Air Rework Facility, retiring as head of the Guided Missile Branch. Following his retirement, he was employed by VSE Corporation as a senior engineer. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Council 367 Norfolk for 45 years. He was also a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church for the past 15 years and was a member of the St. Pius Men’s Club. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Mary Elizabeth Winbauer Meehan; a daughter, Mary Josephine Snider and her husband, Jack Donald Snider Jr., of Chesapeake; two sons, Patrick Joseph Meehan of Norfolk and Michael Anthony Meehan of Virginia Beach; and two grandsons, Christopher Matthew Snider and Joseph Thomas Snider of Chesapeake. He is also survived by one cousin, Sister Helen Edward of Long Island, N.Y. A Mass of Resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 1996, at St. Pius X Catholic Church by Father Edward L. Richardson. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. There will be a Christian wake service at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, at 7 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Pius X Food Pantry, 7800 Halprin Drive, Norfolk, Va.
