Virginian-Pilot July 11, 1912
George H. Meert died suddenly from a hemorrhage at his home on Myers avenue, 
Lamberts Point, Tuesday morning at 5:30 o’clock. He had been in feeble health for 
some years. He was one of the oldest residents on the Point. He was a native of 
Germany, but had been a resident of this section about eighteen years and had 
conducted a hardware business for several years at Lamberts Point. He was a member 
of the Knights of Columbus of Norfolk. He is survived by a widow, two daughters, 
Misses Mary and Elizabeth, and one son, George H. Meert, Jr.
The funeral will be held from St. Francis de Sales chapel at 9:30 this morning.
