Melchor, 29, of the 1400 block of Lead St., died quietly and peacefully on Monday, May 29, 2000, after a brief illness. She was a native of Petersburg and the daughter of Veronica Smith Melchor and Clifford Melchor. Colleene attended Norfolk State University and was a substitute teacher in the Norfolk Public Schools. She was a very active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and had served as an usher, a member of the Young Adult Choir, L.P. Watson Gospel Choir and the Maggie Walker Missionary Circle. Colleene was a kind, sweet and gentle young lady who was called early to be one of God's flowers. She will be sadly missed by her mother, Veronica Smith Melchor of Norfolk; her father, Clifford Melchor of Richmond; her maternal grandmother, Helen Smith; paternal grandfather, Clifford Melchor; and a host of aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Henry Smith; her paternal grandmother, Colleene Brock; and her paternal great-grandmother, Annie Edwards. A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. H. Bernard Branch officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery . Viewing will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at Riddick Funeral Service.
