A native of Mosciano, Italy, near Rome, Mr. Meloni had been a resident of Norfolk for 47 years. He was a son of the late Louis and Mrs. Josephine Ferroni Meloni. He began his work as a barber with his father at the Monticello Hotel Barber Shop. He was associated for many years with the Auditorium Barber Shop on Granby Street, opposite the post office. He took over the yacht club barber shop when it opened July 20, 1960. His barber shop customers, through the years, learned much about baseball through their talks while in the chair of one of Norfolk’s most ardent Yankee fans. He was known as the man who talked baseball and played golf. He made many talks before Norfolk organizations, stressing sports. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and of its Holy Name Society. He was the husband of Mrs. Grace Locascio Meloni, with whom he took a trip to his home in Italy, in 1959. Mr. Meloni was a member of the Norfolk Sports Club and an honory member of the Bow Creek Golf Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two brothers, Alex and Teddy Meloni, and five sisters, Mrs. Dennis Ciola and Mrs. Carr Smith, all of Norfolk, Mrs. Edmund Agostini and Mrs. Charles Vilacqua of New York, and Mrs. Michael Stanchi of Silver Spring, Md.
