Mercer, after a lingering illness from a complication of diseases, died at his home in South Norfolk Sunday evening at 11:50 o'clock. The deceased was well known to Berkley people, he having conducted a blacksmith business in Berkley for quite a number of years. The deceased was born in Currituck County, N.C., but had been a resident of this place for about twelve years. He was in the 45th year of his age and leaves a widow and four children. He was married about ten years ago to Miss Jones, sister of Mrs. John Cuthrell. He was a member of Lee Lodge No. 74, I.O.O.F., which lodge will attend the funeral in a body, The funeral will take place from the residence at 11 o'clock and the obsequies will be conducted by Rev. Herbert Scholz, pastor of Main Street Christian Church. The interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery. ******************************************************************* The funeral of the late Romulus B. Mercer, who died at his home in South Norfolk Sunday night, was conducted from his late residence yesterday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. Herbert Scholz, pastor of Main Street Christian Church, officiating. In addition to a large attendance of relatives and friends, Lee Lodge No. 74, I.O.O.F., of which the deceased was a highly esteemed member, attended in a body. The pallbearers were selected from Lee Lodge. The interment was in Magnolia Cemetery.
