Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark May 12, 1934

William Henry Mercer, aged 77, husband of Mrs. Annie Holt Mercer, died at a 
local hospital yesterday morning at 2:35 o'clock after a long illness.  He 
was a native of Isle of Wight County and had lived in Norfolk for the last 
35 years, residing at 2633 Chesapeake Street.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Ewell & Williamson Funeral Home, 
436 Thirty-fifth street, this afternoon at 3 o'clock, the Rev. Sparks W. 
Melton, D.D., pastor of Freemason Street Baptist Church, of which he was a 
member, officiating.
Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
