NORFOLK - Raymond Mercer Sr. of 2530 Grandy Ave., a native of Norfolk, died 
Wednesday in a hospital.

Mr. Mercer had retired from Norfolk public schools as a custodian after 36 
years.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby C. Mercer; his mother, Hattie Royal; two 
daughters, Hattie Cooper and Ruby Mercer, both of Norfolk; five sons, Raymond 
Mercer Jr., Johnnie Mercer, Arthur Mercer and Robert Mercer, all of Norfolk, and 
Melvin Mercer of Hyattsville, Md.; a brother, Frank Mercer Jr. of Norfolk; and 
five grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hale Funeral Home Chapel. 
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home form 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday and at the 
residence.
