Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark Monday February 20, 1933

Alfonso Mercer, aged 47, died suddenly at his residence, Chesapeake Beach, of a 
heart attack yesterday morning at 4 o'clock.  He was born in Norfolk and had 
been a resident of this section all his life.  He was the son of the late 
Alfonso and Mrs. Virginia Wilson Mercer, and is survived by two brothers, W.W. 
Mercer and H.A. Mercer, both of Chesapeake Beach.  He was a member of Council 
No. 6, Order of Fraternal Americans.
Funeral services will be conducted at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Scott, 
213 West Twenty-sixth street this afternoon at 2 o'clock.  The Rev. H.W. 
Tiffany, D.D., pastor of Park Place Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will 
be in Elmwood Cemetery.
