Mercer, aged 66, died last night at 9 o'clock at a local hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Camden County, N.C. and had been a resident of this section for a number of years. He was the son of the late Malachi and Mrs. Mary Mercer and is survived by one sister, Mrs. L.M. Burgess, of Norfolk and several nieces and nephews. The body was removed to the Gregory Funeral Home, Thirty-fourth and Granby Streets. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. ************************************************************************** Samuel C. Mercer - Funeral services for Mr. Mercer, who died Monday night, were conducted by the Rev. W. Rush Loving, pastor of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church, yesterday morning at 11 o'clock at the Gregory Funeral Home, Thirty- fourth and Granby Streets. During the services W.L. Sutton sang "Abide With Me." Pallbearers were P.E. Rathbern, A.B. Cason, E.A. Tarkenton, W.L. Sutton, F.D. Beale and T.D. Harrison. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.
