May 22, 1920 MERCER, ADELIA - At the residence, No. 729 Westover Avenue, Thursday, May 20, 1920, at 7:15 o'clock p.m., ADELIA MERCER, widow of Charles C. Mercer, in the 73rd year of her age. Funeral services at the above residence TODAY (Saturday) AFTERNOON at 3 o'clock. Interment private. ******************************************************************************** The funeral of Mrs. Adelia Mercer will take place at 3 o'clock this afternoon from the residence, 729 Westover Avenue. Mrs. Mercer died at her home Thursday evening at the age of 72 years. She was the widow of Charles C. Mercer and had been a resident of Norfolk for 65 years. She was a native of Georgia. She is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Samuel B. Duncan, Mrs. Charles R. Hudgins and Miss Ruby L. Mercer, all of Norfolk; by her sons, Alfred D. Blake, of Norfolk and Leonard P. Blake, of Kansas City, Mo.; by her sisters, Mrs. W.H. Jones, of Norfolk and Mrs. Melvina K. Walters, of Raleigh, N.C. and by her brother, William Swank, of Washington, D.C. Virginian Pilot and The Norfolk Landmark.
